Benefits of Joining the Aerosol Association of New Zealand

Information - Advocacy - Advice

Four good reasons to join the Aerosol Association of New Zealand:

  1. Get valuable guidance on aerosol quality and safety standards, legislation, technology and regulatory compliance.
  2. Keep abreast of changes and advancements in aerosol technology and local and international aerosol industry developments.
  3. Network with the industry and have discounted access to aerosol training courses (Sydney location).
  4. Help ensure a stronger industry voice, and play your part in helping promote a competitive, sustainable and responsible local aerosol industry.

The Association is a foundation member of the Asian Aerosol Federation, and via our servicing arrangement with the Aerosol Association of Australia Inc. we have access to the European Aerosol Federation (FEA) and ‘sister’ aerosol associations in the UK, USA and throughout Europe and Asia. Together, through the Association, our members have a stronger, united voice.

We support our members by:

  • updating them about industry changes through regular communications and events
  • providing guidance on key issues (such as legislative and regulatory developments)
  • lobbying Government and agencies like the EPA (formerly ERMA)
  • fostering high industry standards in safety, manufacturing and environmental responsibility, and encouraging innovation (members are eligible to enter the Aerosol Industry Awards staged every two years by the Aerosol Association of Australia)
  • offering discounted rates to training courses run annually (in Sydney) by the Australian Aerosol Association
  • nurturing relationships with other global aerosol associations and key stakeholders in the Asia/Oceania region.

How to Join the Aerosol Association of New Zealand

If your company would like to join the Association, please contact Executive Officer for more information by e-mail: info@aerosol.org.nz.

Other achievements, past and present, include:

Promotional campaigns – We developed the ‘It's OK to Spray’ logo, used widely in promotions and on product. This slogan was subsequently adopted by the US and South African aerosol industries and was the theme of an International Aerosol Congress held in Maastricht.

Recycling – We helped fund the establishment of the ‘CANZBAC’ Steel Can Recycling Campaign. This campaign, and our own promotions, increased awareness of the recyclability of aerosols.

Graffiti and Solvent Abuse – Concern over graffiti vandalism and solvent abuse has led to legislative controls on the sale and display of spray paints and calls for restrictions on the sale of solvent-based products. We support voluntary initiatives to promote the responsible sale of products which can be mis-used for anti-social purposes and have worked closely with regulators and politicians to promote this view.

Regulatory – We enjoy good relationships with agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency, the New Zealand Transport Agency etc. and have representation on a number of bodies. Through these we are involved in issues such as Dangerous Goods Storage, Transport; and Occupational Health and Safety.
